Keep cosy and warm, the perfect time for a good book. Go to prep portal, your year, reading list, here you will find book recommendations and links to author talks and activities. You can always search our library catalogue and reserve a book for when we come back in January, to do this, go to prep portal, click Shoreham College Library and sign in. Keep reading and have a wonderful Christmas.

Click and collect

We are click and collect, for now.

We're all adjusting in these new times, for now, the library is running a 'click and collect' service. Go to the library portal, sign in using your Shoreham College log-in details, then search our catalogue to reserve a book. I will let your Tutor know when your book is ready for collection from the library.

There will be prizes for the best weekly reviews, reviews can easily be written on the portal, these are a great way to let other pupils know what you think of a book/s.

Your library is now one way, so please follow the arrows when you come in. 

Although we are not open at communal times, your Tutor has been given a time for your Tutor class to come to return or pick up books.

To reserve a book or look at our catalogue, go to the Prep Portal and follow the link to Shoreham College Library. Sign in using your Shoreham College user name and password.

Strange times

We are definitely experiencing some uncommon times, make the most of your family time and use this opportunity to read that book you've been meaning to read and just never got around to!

The Southern School Book Awards

Last Friday evening, the year 9 pupils involved in the Southern School Book Awards, travelled to St Pauls to find out who would win. A fabulous night with Will Hill as compere, MA Bennett as the winning author, Chris Riddell being the entertaining illustrator all evening, Malcolm Duffy and Nicky Singer all in attendance. Pupils had the opportunity to meet the authors after the event and of course, buy more books!

It's beginning to feel a bit like Christmas

Libraries are wonderful spaces to be used for lots of reasons, our pupils have been giving our library a make-over with all things festive. Thank you for making our space look so inviting.

On a cold wet November
morning, a selection of pupils from Years 4,5 and 6, had the pleasure of spending an hour at The Book Nook choosing books for the Junior Library. Pupils chose three books each  and were kindly given a free book as they left the shop. Thank you Book Nook, we had such an interesting visit. All of the books bought will be on display and ready to borrow as soon as possible.

What a fabulous start to this half term, author Frances Hardinge came along on 5th November to talk to pupils about her new book 'Deeplight'. She explained the inspiration behind her books and how she creates her characters. Pupils asked lots of interesting questions and even had the opportunity to get their books signed. Super Tuesday.

Come and visit our Book fair

Looking for presents or something new to read? Look no further, we are excited to announce our Book fair has arrived, offering a fantastic selection of books. 

The Book Fair will be situated in the Junior Library and will open at the following times: Monday 30^th September until Wednesday 2^nd October at 3.00pm, 3.35pm and 4.35pm. 

For every book sold, we will receive books for the school. Please come along and have a look.

The Book Buzz Books are here

What a choice!

The Book Buzz books have landed. All of our Year 7 pupils will be receiving a free book courtesy of the Book Trust. The Book Buzz initiative promotes reading for pleasure something we are proud to be a part of. 

Each Year 7 pupil will be able to choose a book of their choice from the Book Buzz selection and will receive it around December. 

There are a wide choice of books and pupils will be able to view all of these during their reading lesson before making their important choice. Now, what to choose...
